Salad from Litovel contained Listeria. Hejný has implemented CAFIA measures and resumes production

06/26/2007

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) on 21 June 2007 banned the production of delicatessen products in food establishment in Litovel belonging to Jan Hejný from Uničov. Laboratory analysis revealed Listeria monocytogenes in Vlašský salad produced on 13 June in this establishment (batch size: 1,5 kg and use-by date: 17 June).

Entrepreneur Jan Hejný performed complete sanitization and subsequent disinfection of manufacturing premises and equipment and removed deficiencies in observing hygiene requirements. Results of laboratory analysis of delicatessen salads and their raw materials complied with prescribed requirements. As he implemented all measures, the CAFIA on 25 June lifted the ban, thus Jan Hejný may again place products on the market.
