The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) on 27 February banned the production of delicatessen products in Gastro Menu Express in Frýdecká Street, Třinec. Laboratory analysis revealed that Bulgarian spread (use-by date: 4 March 2007) manufactured by Gastro contained Listeria monocytogenes. The Inspection Authority ordered to withdraw the spread from sale. At the same time, it suspended the placing on the market of other eight delicatessen products manufactured by this company.
The ban on the production applies until Gastro provides the CAFIA with evidence that the production of food is safe.
