Penny Market is withdrawing 2 lots of defective cocoa drink from Poland

05/24/2016

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered company PENNY Market s.r.o. to immediately withdraw from all its branches two lots of instant cocoa beverage PENNY CHO Quick which misled consumers as regards the amount of vitamins in the product and failed to keep the obligation as regards the labelling of allergens. Two following lots are concerned:

PENNY CHO Quick, Instantní kakaový nápoj 10 vitamínů+vápník (instant cocoa beverage, 10 vitamins + calcium) packaged à 150 g with best before date by 04/2017, made in Poland for: PENNY Market s.r.o. The producer indicated, inter alia, on the labelling: vitamin B2 – 1,1 miligrams (mg) per 100 g. However, CAFIA laboratory analysis confirmed presence of B2 amounting to 0.3 mg per 100 g only. The information on the product thus misled consumers. The laboratory analysis further released presence of allergen milk protein amounting to 2,764 mg/kg, while information on the labelling provided by the producer indicated traces of milk only.

PENNY CHO Quick, Instantní kakaový nápoj 10 vitamínů+vápník (instant cocoa beverage, 10 vitamins + calcium) packaged à 150 g with best before date by 02/2017, made in Poland for: PENNY Market s.r.o. The producer indicated, inter alia, on the labelling: vitamin B2 – 1,1 miligrams (mg) and vitamin C – 60 mg per 100 g. However, CAFIA laboratory analysis confirmed presence of B2 amounting to 0.58 mg per 100 g only and as regards vitamin C, 30.5 mg/100g only. The information on the product thus misled consumers.
