09/04/2007

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered the company LIDL Česká Republika to withdraw from sale corn chips EL TEQUITO – TORTILLA CHIPS NACHO CHEESE in a package of 300g, best before date: 1 June 2008 (batch No. B5102270). According to a notification the Inspection Authority received from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed from the European Commission, this food product made in Belgium was established to contain mycotoxins above the maximum limit.

At the same time, the CAFIA suspended the placing on the market of EL TEQUITO – TORTILLA CHIPS NATURAL (SALTED) in a package of 300g, best before date: 1 June 2008, until it has been established by laboratory analysis that this product is safe.

Mycotoxins are products of moulds and belong to natural toxins that can occur in food.
