Mishandling with use by dates in shop in Příbram

11/05/2014

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found eight sorts of foodstuffs with removed use by dates in the shop owned by Ilona Podzimková based on náměstí Hynka Kličky 82, 261 01 Příbram. Parts of the labels bearing information on the use by dates of the foodstuffs were rubbed off, which was not caused by usual handling with goods. Namely, following meat products were concerned:
  • Hodonínský salám (sausage) - use by date was removed,
  • Poličan  (sausage) - best before date was partially removed,
  • Gothaj (sausage)  - use by date was removed,
  • Selský salám (sausage)  - use by date was removed,
  • Sádlo škvařené bal. á 500 g (rendered lard) - use by date was removed,
  • Šunkový salám (sausage) - use by date was removed,
  • Sendvič se sýrem (cheese sandwich) -  part of the label with use by date was removed,
  • Tlačenka světlá (brawn) - part of the label with use by date was removed.
Mishandling with use by dates or best before dates is very serious violation of food legislation which may possibly threat the health of consumers. CAFIA ordered the operator to dispose the foodstuffs with removed data. CAFIA will also initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine.
