Mice presence in Kaufland store caused close up forced by CAFIA

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter CAFIA only) imposed ban on the use of the area of Kaufland store Česká republika v.o.s. based on Stolářská 659, 69801 Veselí nad Moravou. Serious violation of hygienic rules was detected during the inspection on June 12, 2013. In store area and store facilities CAFIA found several spots of pests’ presence such as mice excrements, eaten food pieces on shelves. Death rodent was found in the box with oils located on store area. Rodent traps were found on shelves with foodstuff which is unacceptable practice.
Imposed ban will be lifted when store operator will prove removal of all Inspection findings. CAFIA ordered to undertake thorough rodents‘ extermination, elimination of all foodstuff affected by rodents and also improve protection of all areas against incoming rodents from outside. The Inspection Authority will launch an administrative sanction procedure.
This is the second case this week and the 10th case this year of closed store for the same malpractices. Presence of rodents on store area and in store facilities is against hygienic rules, especially Regulation (EC) 852/2004. Rodents and other pests could be source of infection for many serious illnesses.
