Listeria found in two salads suspended production at Nové lahůdky Sixta

07/10/2007

On Wednesday 4 July 2007, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) banned production at Nové lahůdky Sixta on Římanova Street, Ostrava-Kunčice. On 27 June, CAFIA inspectors took there four samples of delicatessen products and sent them for laboratory analysis. Two samples contained Listeria monocytogenes. These were Pochoutkový salad, batch size: 115.5 kg, and Vlašský salad, batch size 119.7 kg, use-by date: 2 July 2007.

Nové lahůdky Sixta performed complete sanitization and subsequent disinfection of manufacturing premises, rectified non-compliances with hygiene requirements and also made other changes. Subsequently, the company made samples of eight types of delicatessen salads and sent them to an accredited laboratory. Their analyses were negative. Since Nové lahůdky Sixta has implemented all measures, the CAFIA on 9 July permitted the production of delicatessen products.
