The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) entered information into the European Rapid Alert System (RASFF) related to detection of an unsafe foodstuff – grown champignons. The laboratory analysis showed concentration of pesticides – carbendazim and benomyl amounting to 3.7 mg/kg. Regulation (EC) No. 396/2005 Coll. provides for the maximum permitted concentration as 1.0 mg/kg. The detected value could be regarded as harmful to human health if consumed in a long term. The size of the unsatisfactory lot is 1,053 kg.
CAFIA took sample from the lot at company ZELENINA-DRINKS s.r.o., Mírova 661, Trutnov. The follow-up examination of the accompanying documentation showed that the foodstuff was imported to the CR by company HIGHGATE s.r.o., Miřejov 5, 54401 Lanžov, and the supplier was company P.H.U. "Malkowski", Krzystof Malkowski, Stare Stracze 146, 67-410 Slawa, Poland.
Based on the facts mentioned above, CAFIA ordered the importer HIGHGATE s.r.o to have all lots of the given assortment supplied by P.H.U. "Malkowski", Krzystof Malkowski analysed on the content of pesticides on his own expenses. Administrative procedure on imposition of a sanction will be initiated with the distributor.
