Lidl sold adulterated mortadella from Germany

11/25/2016

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority ordered company Lidl Česká republika v.o.s. to immediately withdraw meat product Dulano – Turkey mortadella packaged à 200 g with lot denomination and use by date by: 4th November 2016, producer: H, Kemper GmbH and Co. KG D-49638 Nortrup, Germany.

The producer indicated, inter alia, on the labelling: 79% turkey meat. However, laboratory analysis proved meat content amounting to 65.1% only. Information on the labelling was thus misleading. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.

With regard to repeated detections of adulterated meat products from abroad in a long-term view, CAFIA will continue with inspections of this assortment in domestic retails with the same intensity.
