Consumer cooperative Jednota Nový Jičín could resume production of delicatessen products in its establishment in Hladké Životice. On 1 March the cooperative provided the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) with proof of safety of food production. The Inspection Authority thus lifted the ban imposed on the cooperative on 20 February. The production was suspended because laboratory analysis revealed that two spreads –ďábelská and toast – contained Listeria monocytogenes.

The producer has implemented all measures imposed by the CAFIA. He carried out complete sanitization and disinfection of all premises and manufacturing and technological equipment. Results of swab samples taken at the production plant for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes were negative. The producer submitted to the CAFIA test samples of spreads complying with the prescribed requirements. He has also changed the system of storing different groups of products in cooling boxes.
