With regard to the high number of detections of adulterated milk products from abroad, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) continues with intensive checks of this segment on the domestic market. Decreasing of the proportion of the so-called dry matter and fat in dry matter is a typical method of adulteration. Milk fat is the most expensive ingredient in the product and its reduction by few per cents significantly modifies the nature of the foodstuff. Lower real content of dry matter or fat in dry matter than indicated by the producer is misleading of consumers. During the current inspection activity, CAFIA found out following lots of non-compliant milk products:

PRÉSIDENT Rondelé Noix de Dordogné - Čerstvý sýr s vlašskými ořechy z kraje Dordogne  (fresh cheese with walnuts from Dordogne region) -  with use by date by 26/07/16, distributor: Lactalis CZ, s.r.o., country of origin: France. The producer indicated that the proportion of dry mater was 45%, however, the laboratory analysis confirmed 42.6% only. The product was sold by Penny Market, s.r.o.

LIGHT PHILADELPHIA SMETANOVÝ SÝR (creamy cheese) - with use by date by 10.08.2016, seller: ALIMPEX FOOD a.s., country of origin: Germany. The producer indicated that the proportion of dry mater was 38.5%, however, the laboratory analysis confirmed 28.7% only. The product was sold by Tesco Stores ČR a.s.

Tvaroh ochucený žampiony (curd cheese with champignons) - with use by date by 07. 07. 2016, seller: Kaufland Česká republika v.o.s., country of origin: Německo. The producer indicated that the proportion of dry mater was 40%, however, the laboratory analysis confirmed 36.5% only. The product was sold by Kaufland Česká republika v.o.s.

Camembert Royal Loubek – with best before date by 21/06/2016, seller: LAKTOIMEX spol. s r.o., Praha. The producer indicated that the proportion of dry mater was 63%, however, the laboratory analysis confirmed 45.3% only. The product was sold by AHOLD Czech Republic, a.s.

Cheesy Singles with Cheddar, 200 g, (processed cheese with Chedar) – with best before date by 19. 06. 2016, producer: Bonifaz Kohler GmbH D-88161 Lindenberg, country of origin: Germany. The producer indicated that the proportion of dry mater was 49%, however, the laboratory analysis confirmed 47.3% only. The product was sold by BILLA, spol. s r. o.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected persons. With regard to the permanent unsatisfactory results of inspections of milk products, CAFIA will continue with inspections of this segment with high intensity.
