The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) carried out in previous weeks an inspection focused on quality of milk butter in retails. The aim of this inspection activity was to check whether the quality of butter complies with requirements laid down by legislation. Inspectors took more than 30 lots of butter in retail both of domestic and foreign origin. Results of the analysis showed deficiencies only at 2 samples of butter from abroad. Exceeding the permitted water content in the products, which can be regarded as adulteration, was the deficiency detected.
Following lots of butter are concerned:
■„TESCO Value máslo“ 250 g (Use by date:13. 12. 15, Producer: ETS MATHOT SPRL, 6 ROUTE DACHENE, BE - 5561 CELLES HOUYET, BELGIE; place of sampling: Tesco Stores ČR, Brněnská 514/13c, Vyškov.
Laboratory analysis showed the lot failed as regards “water content”. The amount of water detected by the laboratory analysis was 16.9% (average sample) while the Regulation No. 1308/2013, as amended requires the water content in amount no higher than 16%.■„MÁSLO“, 250 g, (Use by date: 02. 12. 15, Producer: ETS MATHOT SPRL, 6 ROUTE DACHENE, BE - 5561 CELLES HOUYET, BELGIE, place of sampling: Hruška s.r.o., Holandská 20, Olomouc.

CAFIA ordered the inspected persons to remedy the deficiencies so that all further deliveries of the products in question comply with requirements of legislation and consumers were not misled. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected persons. The result of the inspection activity confirmed high quality of domestic butters.
