Inspection Authority closed down unregistered storehouse with foodstuffs and spirit drinks

10/10/2012

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) imposed ban on using of premises of the food business of Otakar Belák based at Smetanova 771 in Valašské Klobouky. The inspection was carried out on 6 October in the evening and resulted from the request of the Police of the Czech Republic in Zlín that detained higher amount of spirit drinks both with or without stamps. The Inspection Authority found out that the food business operator stored foodstuffs in completely unsatisfactory sanitary conditions. Premises, which were visibly not well kept, were characterized by high dustiness, flaking coat both from walls and ceiling. The food business operator stored tyres, car components and furniture together with foodstuffs. On the top of that, goods were imposed to fluctuation of temperatures due to missing air-conditioning.
CAFIA further imposed ban on putting 9,180 pieces of eggs into circulation, as the operator failed to prove their origin by showing documents on purchase. Thus, it was not possible to verify whether the eggs were stored after expiration of the use by date. The food business operator also violated provisions of legislation, as he was not registered at CAFIA, even though he dealt with trading with foodstuffs.

Administrative procedure will be launched with the food business operator for the offences mentioned above.
