Inspection Authority closed down shop in Prague 4

06/09/2012

During an inspection carried out on 6 June 2012, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected serious hygienic deficiencies in a food shop Iva Pilnajová at Jana Růžičky street 1234 in Prague 4. Occurrence of living and dead rodents and excrements was detected by inspectors both on the storage floor and shelves with foodstuffs. Excrements were also found in the selling part of the shop on the shelf with flour and children's semolina. CAFIA therefore imposed ban on the use of the premises.
During an inspection carried out the following day, the Inspection Authority revealed that deficiencies had not been removed. Mouse droppings were present on the shelves with foodstuffs as well as on the floor. The ban on the use of the premises was not therefore lifted.
The seller was aware of the problems with rodents and already before the first CAFIA inspection commenced cooperation with a professional pest control company. The inspector observed that the imposed measures had been met and the shop was re-opened.
