The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) imposed ban on the use of premises of Pekařství Ječmínek in the hall of Metro station Luka on line B in Prague 5. Significant and repeated violation of hygienic regulations was the reason for the ban. Inspection of CAFIA carried out on 14 March 2013 revealed extensive occurrence of mice excrements, eaten foodstuffs and further tracks of the presence of rodents directly in the shop and also among the foodstuffs in the background where the operator produced bakery, confectionery and delicatessen products.
Tracks of rodents’ activities and mice excrements were detected on the whole area of the premises. Among others, they were revealed inside the cooling showcase with non-packaged confectionery and delicatessen products which were offered for sale, in the fridge with raw materials for the production of foodstuffs, on the selling rack with pretzels, in cooling and freezing equipment, in tea boxes or in the carrier with older bakery products.
The operator – company MIMO Bohemia a.s. – launched its activities on the following day without asking the respective Inspectorate for lifting the ban pursuant to the requirements of Act on CAFIA No. 146/2000 Coll. and committed thus an offence consisting in violation of the imposed measure. Pursuant to the given Act, only the respective Inspectorate is entitled to lift the ban on the use of the premises. The lift is based on the check whether the deficiencies were removed. An administrative procedure will be initiated with the operator for the violations of the food legislation mentioned above.
