The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) checked a consignment of foodstuffs originating in Vietnam that had been suspended by the Customs Authorities of the capital city of Prague due to a suspicion of violation of legislation. CAFIA found a significant amount of foodstuffs in a condition inadmissible for entering the internal EU market. The case concerned 1,066 kg of fruit spreads in a total of 2,880 pieces of consumer packaging affected by fermentation, mould and contamination with insect larvae. CAFIA banned putting the goods into circulation directly on the spot; the non-complying foodstuffs thus could get into the contact with consumers.
Company Bohemian Business Agency s.r.o. based in Prague is the importer of the goods in question. In December 2013 CAFIA did not release
another consignmentof the same importer and also from Vietnam into the EU internal market.
The inspected person shall dispose the non-complying goods on the own expenses.
