The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter “CAFIA” only) made a joint inspection with the Customs Authorities of the Czech Republic during which existence of a non-registered storehouse with spirit drinks operated by VERDANA s.r.o. was detected. Ban on putting all 56,360 liters of spirit drinks into circulation was imposed immediately on the spot. On 8th October, inspection of company's area in locality Rybníky in Zlín was carried out and the Inspection Authority found 31,426 bottles and six-litre plastic barrels with spirit drinks from production of Likérka Drak s.r.o., which were not provided with lots. If the spirit drink is not provided with a lot, its origin and date of production cannot be identified. According to Act No. 110/1997 Coll., on foodstuffs, this foodstuff has unknown origin and is not allowed to be put into circulation.
Furthermore, in the above-mentioned storehouse of VERDANA s.r.o, the Inspection Authority detected that the Extraordinary Measure of the Ministry of the Health was infringed. The food business operator was not able to present any accompanying documents for the stored spirit drinks, particularly documents on the origin and date of production. If the food business operator does not present a document on the origin within the period set by the Extraordinary Measure of the Ministry of Health, he will be obligated to dispose the commodity in accordance with requirements of the Waste Act.
Moreover, the food business operator failed to notify CAFIA of the fact that a food business is operated in that place – spirit drinks storehouse – and thus he breached provision of Act No. 110/1997 Coll., on foodstuffs. Due to the detected misdemeanors, administrative procedure will be initiated. Other potential findings which do not fall under CAFIA responsibility will be referred to competent public administration authorities.
VERDANA s.r.o. is the exclusive distributor of products of Likérka Drak s.r.o. for the Czech Republic.
