INFORMATION ON OCCURRENCE OF METHANOL IN SPIRITS

Consumers can have their spirits tested (the analysis is charged) e.g. in laboratories which are accredited bythe Czech Accreditation Institute (hereinafter “CAI” only).
To find out whether the laboratories for detection of methanol in spirits are accredited, following procedure can be used:   
  • The testing laboratories can be found on the CAI websites under the link “Accredited Bodies”
  • Enter text “methanol”, “alcohol” or “spirits” into the searching box
  • All laboratories of which Certificate on Accreditation contains the searched text are displayed
  • Which analysis is concerned and pursuant to which methodology this analysis is carried out could be concluded from the Annexes to the Certification on Accreditation or from the Record on the current scope of accreditation
  • Contacts for single laboratories are available together with the displayed laboratories
  • For detailed specification of the analysis, contacting the respective laboratory in advance is recommended

CAFIA does not carry out analyses on commercial basis. With regard to the workload of the own laboratories, CAFIA also uses external laboratories for the analyses of spirit and spirit beverages for the purposes of official inspections.
