Which bottles of spirit drinks are considered to be safe?
In general the spirit drinks which are permitted within the extraordinary measure of the Ministry of Health No. 4, thus:
  • All spirit drinks containing less than 20% of alcohol (the sale has never been stopped)
  • All spirit drinks containing 20 and more % of alcohol which were made before 1st January 2012 (the seller has the document proving the date of production)
  • Spirit drinks which were made after 1st January 2012 and have the so-called birth certificate (which identifies the origin of spirits up to the distillery)
  • Spirit drinks which were made after the last extraordinary measure of the Ministry of Health, so they are provided with new alcohol tax stamps (with red numerical data and writing “new”). These also have a birth certificate 
  • In case of spirit drinks which you bought and have them at home, we recommend you have the date of production checked. If it is not mentioned, many big producers state on their websites when the particular spirit drink´s lot was made (lot is an obligatory date; date of production is voluntary)
  • If the operators of restaurants do not have the open bottles tested, they will have to be destroyed.

Which spirit drinks is better to keep away from?
Definitely every spirit drinks which seem to be illegal produced or are suspicious, especially:
  • Spirit drinks missing alcohol tax stamps
  • With missing labelling
  • With suspicion of adulterated etiquette (from copy machine)
  • Bought on suspicious places (e.g. car parks, motorway rest area, from door-to-door seller), shops with suspicious look and appearance - the Police of the Czech Republic shall be warned about this cases
  • Spirit drinks which are suspiciously cheap – consumption tax for 1 liter of pure alcohol is 285,- CZK
  • Types of alcohol which were contaminated: vodka, tuzemák, Plum Brandy, Borovicka
  • The contaminated spirit drinks were not from reputable producers
