Handicapped people have better access to CAFIA websites now

01/28/2009

CAFIA launched a new version of its websites on www.szpi.gov.cz. At the first glance, they seem to differ only slightly from the previous version, nevertheless, they incorporate a significant modification for handicapped users. A pictogram of a crossed-out eye on every page causes that the content is displayed without graphical styles and formatting. Text is also structured simply and the font with the background are displayed more contrastively. Due to these adjustments, the websites are more accessible particularly to visually handicapped people. These modifications concern both Czech and English version.
The web pages of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority were already adjusted to aurally handicapped people and persons with learning and concentration disorders to include any multimedia records, sounds, flashing or often changing elements etc. Within the latest modifications, the structure was simplified and refined in order to make browsing much easier for such people.
On its websites, CAFIA releases a lot of important information, for example warnings against unsafe foodstuffs or recommendations for consumers and business operators etc. In the long run, the Inspection Authority therefore aims so that all users could have equal conditions as regards the access to the websites. The new look also meets requirements of Decree No. 64/2008 Coll., which obliges the bodies of public administration to release information in a form accessible also to handicapped people on their websites.
