The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found and banned another lot of frozen fish product from abroad. The reason for this was adulteration of the meat content. The product concerned is Pangasius – filets without skin, amount 1,000 g with added water – glazed, weight after dripping without glazing: 800 g (note: i.e. meat content 80%), deeply frozen, best before date by 16th December 2017, producer: DL 183, Vietnam, importer into the EU: MOLTON s.r.o., Heřmanova 597/61, 170 00 Prague 7.
Laboratory analysis detected the meat content amounting to 38.5%. Information on the labelling was thus misleading the consumes. CAFIA therefore ordered the seller – company AHOLD Czech Republic, a. s. to immediately withdraw the non-compliant lot from the market network and will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person. With regard to the frequency of adulteration in the segment of frozen fish – see CAFIA press releases of 19th May 2016, 5th May 2016 and 18th March 2016, CAFIA will continue with inspections of this segment. The overview of further significant violations is available in section Fish, aquatic animals of the Food Pillory.
