Foodstuffs awarded by KLASA and Regionální potravina were almost without deficiencies in 2016

02/10/2017

Inspections carried out by the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) in 2016 showed high level of quality and safety of foodstuffs awarded by quality brand KLASA and Regionální potravina (foodstuff of regional origin). Violation of safety requirements was not found at any of the lots assessed. Only minor quality deficiencies were detected as regards labelling and composition, however, only at few cases. Significantly higher proportions of non-compliant samples are detected during inspections of other groups of foodstuffs.

CAFIA has been carrying out inspection activities focused on foodstuffs awarded by national quality brand KLASA on regular basis already for 14 years. In 2016 inspectors sampled 200 lots labelled this way, out of which 4 lots were found non-compliant. Summary of all assessed lots with KLASA is available in section Thematic inspections on the Food Pillory website in part 1 and part 2.

Last year CAFIA assessed a total of 76 lots of foodstuffs awarded by brand Regionální potravina, out of which only one was assessed as non-compliant. Summary of all assessed lots with Regionální potravina is available in section Thematic inspections on the Food Pillory website.

Products with KLASA and Regionální potravina have to comply not only with requirements of national and European legislation but also with requirements beyond legislation and following from requirements for the use of the quality brand.
