Food Inspection Authority warns consumers against potentially dangerous soy drink

08/14/2007

Based on current information from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) warns consumers that soy drink which may contain food additive guar gum E 412 contaminated with dioxins and pentachlorophenol appeared on the Czech market.

The drink was imported to the Czech Republic by VEGA Provita, Frýdek-Místek, from the German supplier Natumi AG, Eitorf. Two kinds of chocolate soy drinks are concerned:

- Chocolate Soy Drink + Ca BIO (or Natumi Soya choco), BBD: 08.04.2008, packaging: 1 000 ml (288 pieces)
- Chocolate Soy Drink + Ca BIO (or Natumi Soya choco), BBD: 26.02.2008, packaging: 200 ml (150 pieces)

VEGA Provita has already begun to withdraw this potentially dangerous product from its purchasers, in accordance with the measure imposed by the CAFIA.

If consumers have already bought this product, the CAFIA does not recommend its consumption. However, possible contamination is probably so low that there is no imminent risk to consumer health.
