Food Inspection Authority again warns against fake inspector

03/02/2006

ins.JPG The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) again warns against man who poses himself as an inspector. According to CAFIA information, this time he appeared in Plzeň. On Wednesday 1 March and on Thursday 2 March, the unknown man visited two shops selling meat and smoked meats where he introduced himself as Dr. Popelka and carried out an inspection. He left without recording anything and without requiring any money. He left his phone number in the shops, which is, however, fake.

The Inspection Authority again warns all food sellers to be prudent and require relevant papers on inspectors. Moreover, inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority  must prove their identity with an authorization for inspection and they are not entitled to levy on-the-spot fines. In case of uncertainty, identity of inspectors can be verified by phone at the relevant Inspectorate of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority.
