Food businesses in Svitavy and Seč can resume the production of salads

01/18/2007

Jindřich Kosina’s food business in Seč can resume the production of delicatessen products. Similarly, food business Na Červenici in Svitavy, belonging to local consumer cooperative Jednota, can resume the production. The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority on 15 January lifted the ban on production imposed on 29 December 2006 in Svitavy and on 5 January in Seč. The reason for suspending the production was Listeria monocytogenes identified in Delicatessen and Svitavsky Salad during laboratory analysis.

Both producers have implemented measures imposed by the Inspection Authority. These measures included complete sanitization and subsequent disinfection of manufacturing and storage premises and manufacturing equipment. Results of swab samples taken from manufacturing equipment and premises for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes were negative. Producers then submitted testing samples of raw materials and salads that complied with prescribed microbiological requirements.
