Debrecínská pečeně with incorrect use by date

02/15/2012

The inspection carried out by inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority at the premises of AHOLD Czech, a.s. in Nádražní street in Blansko on 14 February 2012 revealed that sliced product “Pečeně debrecínská” offered in the service delicatessen section was incorrectly labelled with its use by date. The foodstuff in question, which was supposed to be consumed by 11 February 2012, was labelled by 5 days later date.
Almost half of a kilogram of debrecínská pečeně was sliced from an original larger packaging of which remaining part was revealed by the inspectors in the storage of the premises. The inspectors also found out that the given use by date did not correspond with the data on the labeling of the product sliced and packaged at the premises.
A meat product with expired use by date was thus put into circulation and misleading business practices consisting in untrue information on its use by date were used during the sale.

CAFIA banned putting this product into circulation, and administrative proceeding on imposition of a fine will be initiated with the operator.
