During continuing inspections of dried fruits on the pre-Christmas market, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (hereinafter “CAFIA” only) revealed dates unfit for human consumption in Tesco Stores ČR, a.s. and Billa, spol. s.r.o. The Inspection Authority ordered sellers to withdraw immediately the non-complying lots from retail network and recommends consumers they do not consume the foodstuffs in question.

During the inspection at the premises of company Tesco Stores ČR, a.s. at Rudolická street in Most, CAFIA found three lots of dried Tunisian dates affected by pests. Inside of some fruits in each of the examined packages, there were dead larvae and traces of their activities – excrements and damaged fruits. Following lots of foodstuffs are concerned:

Moreover, during the inspection at the premises of company Billa spol. s.r.o. at Majerova street in Plzeň, CAFIA revealed sale of dried dates from Tunisia where presence of pests and traces of their activities were found in some fruits from the examined packages. Following lot of foodstuff is concerned:

CAFIA will initiate an administration procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected persons.
