Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority warns consumers of finding of the company Hügli Food, s.r.o.

08/17/2007

Company Hügli Food s.r.o., Zásmuky informed the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) of results of their own control regarding the additive E 412 – guar gum which was used for production of some of their products. Analyses performed by the company revealed that one of the batches of this raw material contained limit-exceeding level of dioxins.

The company promptly informed all their purchasers and started with withdrawal of these foodstuffs under supervision of the CAFIA. This case will also be a subject of notification within the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) sent by the Czech National Contact Point to the European Commission in Brussels.

Considering the amount of the substance used, consumers are not exposed to any health risk.

The company proceeds fully in accordance with the Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002, according to which each of the food business operators shall inform of similar finding not only the competent authority but also consumers.

Therefore, the Food Inspection Authority releases this announcement of the Hügli Food s.r.o. on its websites as well.
