Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority warns consumers about Salmonella in minced meat from abroad

11/15/2024

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) warns consumers about the non-compliant food product called TESCO Mixed Minced Meat, expiration date: 20.10.2024, origin and slaughter: Poland, veterinary identification number: PL 24770305 WE. Inspectors collected a sample at the Tesco Stores ČR a.s. facility, Sokolovská 2164, 347 01 Tachov.

Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of Salmonella Typhimurium bacteria in the mentioned batch of food, which are the causative agents of salmonellosis.

Since the product in question was labelled with the date "Use by: 20.10.2024", it is no longer available on the market. However, CAFIA strongly recommends that all consumers who might have the product frozen at home avoid consuming it. Freezing does not significantly affect bacterial contamination.

CAFIA has entered the notification of the detection of this non-compliant food into the European Rapid Alert System for Food (RASFF).

CAFIA will initiate administrative proceedings to impose a fine on the inspected party.
