The objective of this half-year project is further training of Food Inspection Authority staff with respect to requirements of the European Commission in the area of food safety and quality. Number of follow-up seminars led by Dutch institutions responsible for food safety issues will be aimed at areas such as preparation of controls, control procedures and methods, control plans, food hygiene, traceability, control of the HACCP system, or risk communication. In the final part of the project, the seminars will be followed-up by foreign study visits where inspectors will gain further practical experience.
The “COSTRA” Project with a budget of almost EUR 140,000 will again be financed from the Phare – Transition Facility programme. Transition Facility is an aid instrument of the European Commission intended for the new Member States, which allows to continue EU aid in areas where administrative and institutional capacity is not sufficient in comparison to the old Member States.
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority has been successfully drawing EU financial resources for ten years, mainly through Phare grants from which the CAFIA managed to obtain more than EUR 3 million. Other grants were used within recently completed INTERREG IIIA Project. The grants were used mainly to equip the CAFIA with laboratory instruments, computer technology, to train and educate staff, to develop joint information system of Czech supervisory bodies and also to implement quality management system at the CAFIA.
