The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) has banned the company Albert Česká republika, s.r.o. from placing a batch of non-compliant food on the market:
Dried meat product „Excellent EVERYDAY SPECIAL SALAME MILANO, A high-quality speciality with the flavour of aged pork“, labeled with batch number: 2225314 and best before date (BBD): 08/02/2026, manufacturer: I.SA.S Industria Salumi Simonini S.p.A, Via Per Modena 176 - 41014 Castelvetro (MO), Italy, registration number of the manufacturer ("Veterinary oval"): IT 946 L UE.
The manufacturer stated in the ingredients list on the packaging, among other things: 149 g of pork meat was used per 100 g of the finished product. However, laboratory analysis in an accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of meat in the amount of 120.9 g per 100 g of the finished product in the subject batch of the food. By failing to adhere to the stated composition of the food, the consumer was misled.
Note: In the composition of dried meat products, the weight of the meat before drying is stated per weight unit of the final product after drying.
The CAFIA further banned the company Lidl Česká republika s.r.o. from placing a batch of non-compliant food on the market:
Canned meat product „Chalupářské vepřové maso Pikok“ (Cottage-style pork meat) with batch designation L 509717 and best before date (BBD): 14.10.2027, manufacturer: PAMAPOL S.A., ul. Wieluńska 2, 97–438 Rusiec, Poland, veterinary oval: PL 10010303.
The manufacturer stated in the ingredients list on the packaging, among other things: meat content 89%. However, laboratory analysis in an accredited laboratory confirmed the presence of meat in the amount of 76.6% in the subject batch of the food. By failing to adhere to the stated composition of the food, the consumer was misled.
The CAFIA will initiate administrative proceedings with the inspected person to impose a fine.
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority has passed the information to the European Administrative Assistance and Cooperation Network (AAC) for combating food fraud, which will allow for further investigation of the case in the country of origin.
