Inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA), in cooperation with the Prague – Ruzyně Customs Office, blocked a shipment of durian from entering the market after laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of residues of nine different pesticides in quantities exceeding the legal limits. The non-compliant batch weighed 540 kg. Durian is a tropical fruit originating from Southeast Asia, known for its strong-smelling pulp.

Accredited laboratory analysis of the product confirmed the presence of the following pesticide residues:
Based on the laboratory results, CAFIA inspectors decided not to allow the food product onto the internal market. The importer was subsequently ordered to either destroy the affected batch, send it outside the EU, or use it for non-food purposes. The non-compliant shipment was returned to its country of origin.
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority has initiated administrative proceedings with the inspected entity to impose a fine.
