Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority banned the sale of more than 70 000 eggs

10/03/2006

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) banned the sale of 70 200 pieces of eggs imported to the Czech Republic from Poland.

Fresh hen’s Best Farm eggs (30 pieces per pack, weight grade M and best before date 17/10/2006) were delivered to Kaufland store in Prague 4 by Polish producer Ovotek Sp. z o.o. from Malomice.

Eggs did not comply with EU quality regulations: egg shells were dirty with droppings or egg content, some of them were cracked.

The Inspection Authority banned the sale of unsatisfactory eggs. Inspections of eggs in the commercial network will continue.
