In co-operation with the Customs Office of the Capital City of Prague, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) suspended a consignment of Vietnamese green tea in total amount of 236 kg. The consignment was not released for free circulation and consumers were thus not threatened.
Out of 8 sorts of tea, 4 samples were taken, out of which 3 were assessed as non-compliant as regards the content of pesticides, which means that requirements of Regulation No. 396/2005 were violated.
Summary of non-compliant samples:
- Meng Ding Mao in amount of 28 kg failed to comply as regards the content of pesticide chlorpyrifos which was present in the amount of 0.25 mg/kg whereas the permitted limit is 0.1 mg/kg.
- Formosa Oolong, in amount of 33 kg containing 0.44 mg/kg of buprofezin and 0.25 mg/kg of imidacloprid. The limit for both substances is 0.5 mg/kg.
- Sechuan Green Tea in amount of 42 kg failed to comply as regards content of following pesticides: buprofezin, acetamiprid, chlorpyrifos, fipronile, and imidacloprid.
Company XIN RONG INTERNATIONAL, spol. s r.o. Jeruzalémská 10/956, 11000 Prague ordered the consignment and company Shenzhen Rui Xin Shunda Import Export CO., LTD Shenzhen City, East Iacon Wenjin intersection of satisfying building block A, 4001, CHINA was then identified as the importer.
Decision whether the consignment will be disposed or returned to the supplier will be made in the next few days.
