CAFIA warns against frozen chicken meat products with salmonella

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) warns consumers against unsafe foodstuff Kuřecí kuličky na jižanský způsob (Chicken balls, southern style), 61642 Souhtem Fried Popsers, sliced chicken breast with joined meat pieces covered in breadcrumbs – southern style, for roasting, deeply frozen, best before date: 15.05.2021, lot: L: 13620, origin of chicken meat: Poland, made in Poland.

Laboratory analysis confirmed presence of bacteria Salmonella in the foodstuff. These bacteria cause salmonellosis disease.

CAFIA inspectors took the sample at the premises of company Iceland Czech a.s. Leopoldova 2138/16, Prague. According to the accompanying documentation, company Iceland International Limited HSBC is the supplier of the foodstuff into the CR. Based on the call, the seller has already withdrawn the non-compliant lot from retail network.

CAFIA strongly recommends all consumers who have the food lot in question at home that they do not eat it.

CAFIA currently entered notification of the detection of the mentioned non-compliant food lot into the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.
