CAFIA warns against false inspector

04/29/2015

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) warns the public and food business operators against a man who passed himself off as a CAFIA inspector. On 27th April 2015, an unknown man, whose identity is not known so far, introduced himself as a CAFIA inspector at the wine premises in the district of Kroměříž and fleetingly showed an undefinable card and said that identity card of the inspector was concerned. Based on the appeal of the operator, the man rejected to submit the card for identification. According to the record of the camera system of the operator, no CAFIA inspector was concerned. CAFIA filed a criminal complaint for an unknown offender to the Police of the CR.
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority would like to inform that all CAFIA inspectors are obliged to show his/her service card to the inspected person at the beginning of every inspection. The card includes, inter alia, photo of the inspector, date of issue and identification number of the card. CAFIA inspectors ever require neither finances, nor in the form of fine tickets. The authenticity of the inspector can be verified on the CAFIA regional Inspectorate, all contact data is available on the CAFIA website.
