CAFIA warns against consumption of raisins with mineral oil

09/24/2022

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected presence of an unauthorised substance in foodstuff TESCO Rozinky Sultana, packaging à 200 g with best before date by 4/2023, lot: L220953V9871.

Laboratory analysis in an accredited laboratory confirmed presence of mineral oil, which is not a food substance and must not be present in foodstuffs.

The amount of the unauthorised oil was 397 mg/kg and the producer thus infringed Regulation (EC) No. 1333/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on food additives.

CAFIA inspectors ordered the inspected person, Tesco Stores ČR a.s., to immediately withdraw the lot of this foodstuff from the market.

CAFIA strongly recomends consumers who may have the foodstuff at home that they do not eat it.

Information on the finding was notified to the European Rapid Alert System for Food (RASFF).
