The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) in co-operation with the Customs Authorities of the South-Moravian Region and the Czech Trade Inspection Authority carried out an inspection of the retail based on Husova street No. 565, 66442 in Modřice near Brno. During the examination of the premises, CAFIA inspectors detected an extensive violation of hygiene requirements. Two mice nests were, inter alia, concerned as well as a large amount of rodents’ excrements in the storage and in the selling part of the premises. Foodstuffs in gnawed packaging were also found. The premises were very neglected in general with soaked ceilings, moulds and numerous cobwebs. Based on the given facts, CAFIA banned using of the premises on the spot.

The inspectors further banned placing 9 sorts of offered foodstuffs on the market as their use by dates were expired, and also handed cigarettes with missing fee stamps and tobacco with missing labelling in Czech to the Customs Authority for further investigation.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person Khang La Van.
