01/28/2021

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found food supplement on the market containing very high dosage of amygdaline which, after used, metabolises to hydrogen cyanide and cyanides in human body.

Food supplement Amygdalín B17 25g, producer and seller: Tachynon Technology pharm spol. sro., Vančurova 1, 83101 Bratislava, Slovakia is concerned.  CAFIA inspectors took the sample on e-shop www.tachyonsupplement.eu, targeted, inter alia, on Czech consumers, information on the goods is in Czech language, the product can be purchased for CZK and the seller ensures delivering into the CR.

Laboratory analysis confirmed presence of amygdaline amounting to 1,760 milligrams (mg) in one recommended daily dosage, which corresponds to 104 mg of hydrogen cyanide after metabolising. Pursuant to the statement of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the dosage threating human’s life oscillates between 0.5 and 3.5 mg per 1 kg of human weight, i.e. 35 – 245 mg for a person weighing 70 kg.

CAFIA strongly warns all consumers that they do not eat the food supplement in question.

CAFIA entered the notification of the case into the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) and enabled thus further investigation and adoption of measures in the country of origin where both producer and seller of the foodstuff concerned are based.
