CAFIA’s inspection activity confirmed that food supplements producers did not misled about folic acid content

09/02/2022

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) carried out an inspection activity to verify the folic acid content in food supplements. The inspectors assessed whether the actual amount of folic acid in the food supplements corresponded to the amount declared on the labelling.

The results of the inspection showed that none of the samples evaluated had misled consumers about the folic acid content.

As a part of the inspection activity, the inspectors took a total of 8 samples, and laboratory analysis in an accredited laboratory proved presence of folic acid in all of them in the amount corresponding to the value indicated on the food labelling.

An overview of all evaluated samples that were included in the inspection activity was released on the CAFIA website Potraviny na pranýři in the section Thematic controls.

Food supplements with folic acid are intended for a wide range of consumers, including pregnant women.
