The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) ordered sellers to withdraw two lots of fruit beverages from the market. Adulteration proved by a laboratory analysis was the reason for that. In both cases, following beverages made in Poland and distributed by company MASPEX Czech s.r.o., based on Sokolovská 100/94, 186 00 Prague are concerned:
- Relax černý rybíz - beverage made of black currant concentrate without preservatives and artificial colorants packaged à 1 l with best before date by: 09/2017, lot: 09.2017 24800136, sold by MASPEX Czech s.r.o.; Sokolovská 100/94, 186 00 Prague – Karlín. The producer informs consumers on the labelling on the content of the fruit ingredient as follows: “juice made of black currant concentrate (25%), however, the laboratory analysis proved the fruit content amounting to 17.7% only. Indicating misleading information, the producer violated applicable legislation and CAFIA inspectors therefore ordered to withdraw the non-compliant lot from the market. The inspectors took the sample at the premises of company Kubík a.s. in Pardubice.
- Drink FiGo – Pomeranč, Mandarinka, Jablko (orange, tangerine, apple) packaged à 0.3 l with best before date by 047/2017, lot 2802111 CDG, sold by MASPEX Czech s.r.o.; Sokolovská 100/94, 186 00 Prague – Karlín. The producer informs consumers on the labelling that the beverage contains 12 mg/100 ml of vitamin C, however, the laboratory analysis did not prove a measureable presence of vitamin C at all. Indicating misleading information, the producer violated applicable legislation and CAFIA inspectors therefore ordered to withdraw the non-compliant lot from the market. The inspectors took the sample at the premises of company Jednota, spotřební družstvo in Jindřichův Hradec in its branch in Suchdol nad Lužnicí.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected persons.
