By the end of August CAFIA notified in its press release of deception in keeping records of grapes’ origin with companies Vinium JSC and České vinařské závody JSC. Vinium JSC bought out grapes of unknown origin from three different suppliers. On the basis of in-depth controls CAFIA managed to prove that one of the three suppliers was company P.S. Ltd. based in Prague which had supplied company Vinium JSC with over 10 tons of grapes of Moravian Muscat variety whose origin was unknown. CAFIA inspectors found out that company P.S. Ltd. had bought out these grapes from company Vinotop CZ Ltd. based in Olomouc that was also inspected. It was found out that company Vinotop CZ Ltd. had supplied company Vinium JSC with over 415 tons of grapes of unknown origin which belonged to varieties Müller Thurgau and Welschriesling.
Another supplier of grapes of unknown origin was Company Bravo CZ Ltd. based in Bořetice that supplied company Vinium JSC with five different varieties in total quantity reaching nearly 650 tons. Company Bravo CZ Ltd. is neither taking over CAFIA’s letters nor picking up letters from its databox.
CAFIA can impose fines amounting to millions to above mentioned companies. With regard to importance of revealed deficiencies which ultimately deceive consumers and damage wine-growers and wine-makers, CAFIA will carry on in inspections also in the future.
