CAFIA identified Listeria monocytogenes in bacon. It was withdrawn

08/03/2007

Laboratory tests performed by the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) revealed a limit-exceeding amount of Listeria monocytogenes in vacuum packed Premium English Bacon, use by date: 3 August 2007. The inspectors took a sample for laboratory analysis in Kaufland in Praha-Michle.

Since the chain store Kaufland withdrew 662.6 kg of this meat product from the market, the batch in question or any other batch is no longer on sale. The CAFIA recommends consumers who have bacon of this batch at home not eat it.

Premium English Bacon was made by Masokombinát Plzeň. The Inspection Authority transmitted all information to the State Veterinary Administration to further investigate this case.
