CAFIA greets annulment of trading licence of company E.S.E., s.r.o.

Those six samples contained from 65 to 76 percent of water and in five cases also synthetic colourings. It is feasible to produce red half-fermented wine of white half-fermented wine by adding synthetic colourings. Such colourings can also fake adulteration of red half-fermented wine with water. However, adulteration with water and adding colourings are practically inadmissible from the legal point of view – they are unauthorised oenological procedures through which adulterators enrich themselves at the expense of consumers.
Since 2006, when CAFIA started performing analyses of half-fermented wine in its own laboratories, so many non-complying samples at one company have been revealed. Moreover, that was for the first time when an artificial colouring was detected besides water adulteration. Furthermore, communication with the company was difficult as well, as its seat was not on the address given in the Trade Register. CAFIA therefore decided to submit a suggestion to the Trade Office in Moravský Krumlov which is legally authorised to annul the respective trading licence of the company in question. Inspection Authority also provided the Trade Office with all necessary documents showing that the company was seriously violating legislation, which was one of the reasons why to annul the trading licence.
"We highly appreciated that our suggestion led the municipal Trade Office in Moravský Krumlov to initiation of an administrative proceeding that resulted in annulment of the trading licence. That was a clear signal for other operators who did not respect legislation significantly," Martin Klanica, deputizing Director General of CAFIA, said.
