CAFIA found removed best before dates in retail of HTS Servis

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found removed data on best before date in case of nine sorts of foodstuffs in retail of company HTH Servis s.r.o. on Široká street 738 Kaplice in district of Český Krumlov. During the inspection carried out on 15th September 2014, CAFIA detected that partial or complete removal of best before dates could not be caused due to common handling with goods but due to targeted scraping of data after which traces of printing injet remained on the label. Mishandling with best before dates concerned following sorts of foodstuffs:
  • KLASIK – light bottled beer, 5 pieces,
  • Dr. Halíř – processed cheese, 1 piece,
  • Kokosgeback – cocunt biscuit with fruit filling, 11 pieces,
  • Kubeti ketchup – wheat snack with ketchup flavour, 17 pieces,
  • Kubeti chicken – wheat snack with chicken flavour, 15 pieces,
  • GO kakao – musli bar (cocoa flavour), 48 pieces,
  • GO rybíz+jogurt – musli bar (currant + yogurt flavour), 16 pieces,
  • Relax Select multivitamin, 7 pieces (the product was placed in the area with products with expired best before date, however, the information on the best before date was partially removed),
  • DOUWE EGBERTS – coffee, 24 pieces (the product was placed in the area with products with expired best before date, however, the information on the best before date was partially removed).
 
Selling foodstuffs with manipulated information on best before dates, the operator conducted serious violence of food legislation, namely Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002.  CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the operator.
