CAFIA found foodstuff with anabolic steroid

03/21/2014

During its inspection, the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found an unsafe food supplement sold under name TRIBU and packaged ŕ 100 capsules in a package with use by date of 23 July 2016. The analysis carried out in the CAFIA accredited laboratory proved presence of prohibited substance 1-dehydroandrostendion (also known as boldion or androsta-1,4-dien-3,17-dion), which is regarded as a substance with anabolic effect and it is ranked among androgenic anabolic steroids. With regard to this fact, the food supplement in question cannot be regarded as safe, and in compliance with European Regulation No. 178/2002, CAFIA ordered the producer to withdraw the product from distribution network and notify its customers.
CAFIA found the non-compliant lot at company Extrifit, s. r. o. based in Dolní Újezd. Distribution channels as well as the number of packages that may possibly be on the market are subjects of the current investigation.
