07/21/2021

The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) found an unsafe lot of food supplement Křemelina (Diatomaceous earth) packaged à 300 g with best before date by 2nd May 2022 and distributed by: CITY Star s.r.o, Kaprova 42/14, Staré město, Prague 1, 110 00.

A laboratory analysis confirmed presence of aluminium amounting to 11,598 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). With regard to the fact that the content of aluminium in the product manyfold exceeds the maximum tolerable dosage, the foodstuff is regarded as unsafe for humans.

The laboratory analysis further confirmed presence of lead amounting to 4.8 mg/kg. Since Regulation (EC) No. 1881/2006 stipulates that content of lead shall not be higher than 3.0 mg/kg, the foodstuff is not safe for humans.

The inspectors took the non-compliant samples at the premises of company CITY Star s.r.o., Nerudova 940/7, Hradec Králové, 500 02. Pursuant to the information provided by the distributor, the foodstuff was sold by e-shop foxylife.cz as well.

CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.

Food Inspection strongly recommends all consumers who have the given lot of the foodstuff home that they do not eat it.
