The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected a food supplement with unauthorized pharmacologically effective substances sildenafil and thiosildenafil. Moreover, these substances were not indicated on the labelling of the products. These substances are used in particular in medicaments for enhancement of men’s erection. Unintentional use of these substances may cause serious health complications particularly to cardiacs and people suffering from high blood pressure.

Following product is concerned: POWERtabs – 100% natural, food supplement, 20 pills in a packaging, lot: exp: 12/2018, producer: Herb Supply Logistics, Jana Cakstes bl. 9.12 Jelgava LV-3001, country of origin: Latvia. Laboratory analysis confirmed presence of sildenafil amounting to 0.318 mg/1 capsule and presence of thiosildenafil amounting to 57.2 mg/1 capsule. A foodstuff containing these pharmacologically effective substances is regarded as unsafe.

CAFIA inspectors found the deficient lot at seller František Knoflíček, Lužická 46/1, 500 03 Hradec Králové. CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected person.

CAFIA strongly recommends all consumers who may have the lot in question at home they do not eat it.
