The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected two non-compliant lots of one product – BLACK HORSE energy drink, blue ENERGY, packaged à 1 l, produced by: NEALKO ORAVAN, spol. s r.o., Priemyselná 392, 027 42 Podbiel, Slovakia, made in Slovakia. The lots were found in retail network.
The producer stated on the labelling of the product, inter alia: “Average nutrition value per 100 ml of the drink – vitamin B2 – 0.54 mg and vitamin B6 – 2 mg.” However, CAFIA laboratory analysis proved presence of these substances in significantly lower concentrations.
As regards the sample with best before date by 18th August 2020 and lot 18.08 B/L, the analysis confirmed presence of vitamin B2 amounting to 0.1 mg/100 ml and vitamin B6 less than 0.1 mg/100 ml, thus under detectable limit.. The sample was taken at company MAX BRANDS CZ s.r.o., Betáňská 743, Prague 4 - Libuš 142 00. The size of the non-compliant lot in question was 3,294 l.
As regards the sample with best before date by 28th January 2020 and lot B/L 19:04, the analysis confirmed presence of vitamin B2 amounting to 0.029 mg/100 ml and vitamin B6 0.11 mg/100 ml. The sample was taken at company Van Cong Nguyen, Na Kopečku 1151, Třeboň - Třeboň II 379 01. At the time of the inspection, 3 l of the lot in question were present at the premises.
Information on the labelling misled consumers as regards actual content of vitamins B2 and B6. CAFIA therefore initiates an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected persons.
