During current inspections, the inspectors of the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) detected sale of several lots of biscuits with inappropriate labelling as regards the content of allergenic substances. Following foodstuffs were concerned:
Wafer tube-cake, Trubička s vaječnou náplní, best before date by: 10.06.2019, lot: 435, producer: PIEDMONT COOKIES, Andrzej Bloniarczyk, Proszowki 315, 32-700 Bochnia, Poland. Laboratory analysis in the foodstuffs confirmed presence of allergen – peanuts, although information on this ingredient was not stated on the labelling. The inspectors sampled the foodstuff at the premises of company D-H EXPRESS s.r.o., Palackého 3145/41, Jablonec nad Nisou 466 01.
Wafelki o smaku cappuccino, best before date by: 10.10.2019, lot: 10.10.2019 3, producer: Zaklady Produkcji Cukierniczego “SKAWA” S.A., street Putka 1, 34-100 Wadowice, Poland, made in Poland, Poland. Laboratory analysis confirmed presence of allergen – peanuts amounting to 132 mg/kg. The producer stated, inter alia, on the labelling: “May contain peanuts,” however, the real amount severalfold exceeded the trace amount for peanuts. The inspectors sampled the foodstuff at the premises of company KEVIN HOANG s.r.o., Libušská 319/126, Prague 14200.
Wafelki kakaowe, best before date by: 01.11.2019, lot: 01.11.2019 2, producer: Zaklady Produkcji Cukierniczego „SKAWA“ S.A., ul.dr. Putka 1, 34-100 Wadowice, Poland, made in Poland, Poland. Laboratory analysis in the foodstuffs confirmed presence of allergen – peanuts amounting to 197 mg/kg. The producer stated, inter alia, on the labelling: “May contain peanuts,” however, the real amount severalfold exceeded the trace amount for peanuts. The inspectors sampled the foodstuff at the premises of company KEVIN HOANG s.r.o., Libušská 319/126, Prague 142 00.
Cookies Bergen čokoládové sušenky s lentilkami, best before date by: 31082019, lot: L183551, producer: P.W. SPOMET Sp.1 ul. Žywiecka 13, 43-300 Bielsko-Biala, Poland. Laboratory analysis confirmed presence of allergen – peanuts amounting to 1,299 mg/kg. The producer stated, inter alia, on the labelling: “May contain peanuts,” however, the real amount severalfold exceeded the trace amount for peanuts. The inspectors sampled the foodstuff at the premises of company VietCham s.r.o., Jaselská 437, Teplice 41503.
Consumption of a foodstuff concealing presence of allergens or content of an allergen in contradiction to voluntary statement “may contain…,” which is perceived as warning against possible trace contamination, may cause health complications for persons with an allergy or intolerance to relevant allergenic ingredient. CAFIA recommends to all consumers with the allergy or intolerance to peanuts who may have the lots in question at home that they do not eat them.
CAFIA will initiate an administrative procedure on imposition of a fine with the inspected persons.
